P3e Overview

P3e is comprehensive, multi-project planning and control software, built on Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server relational databases for enterprise-wide project management scalability. P3e can stand alone for project and resource management, or it can be used in conjunction with other Primavera products, such as P3 and SureTrak, to consolidate decentralized project plans for ongoing cross-project analysis and insight. No other product provides this complete picture of all your projects--from summaries by cost account and global resource breakdown structures, to proactive control of project issues and risks. P3e’s straightforward interface ensures that it is easy to learn and use. Rich analysis and reporting capabilities are complemented by an extensive Project Website and companion products for making visible the progress made on your projects.

Manage the entire project lifecycle. P3e is a total project management solution, encompassing all aspects of the project lifecycle. It combines all of the in-depth project management capabilities required by project-driven industries such as construction, engineering, telecommunications, utilities, and petrochemical processing. P3e is ideal for organizations that need to simultaneously manage multiple projects and support multi-user access across a department or the entire enterprise. It supports an unlimited number of projects, project groups or programs, activities, baselines, resources, and user-defined WBS and activity codes.

Global project communications. P3e fits into today’s distributed work environment by keeping all project team members and stakeholders up to date. Its dynamic Project Website includes extensive project information such as activity and resource assignment details, activity notes and steps, project issues and risks, and any project report. Centralized resource management. P3e simplifies management of resources across programs and projects. P3e’s enterprise-wide pool of resources ensures that resource utilization projections are based on real-time requirements by all projects and that resources are efficiently deployed, leveled, tracked, and managed. P3e graphically shows resource usage with an interactive histogram that can be customized to show resource use across projects, by timeperiod, and by any combination of resources.

Proactive management of issues and risks. P3e helps project managers focus on the most important issues at any given moment without having to comb through all project details to uncover hidden problems. Through cost, schedule and earned value thresholds, or variances, P3e automatically generates issues when thresholds are exceeded by project elements. Project managers can prioritize resulting issues and let P3e send e-mail alerts to the responsible parties to ensure prompt resolution. To make sure that project risks are properly identified and quantified, P3e also integrates risk management and assesses the impact of those risks. P3e quickly performs what-if simulation to determine the schedule and cost exposure of project risks based on estimated impacts and probability factors. Risks can be categorized and risk control plans can be documented as part of the overall project plan.

Primavera Progress Reporter. Progress Reporter provides full workgroup support and coordination of project resources with minimum training and hassle. Each team member receives activity assignments--even across multiple projects. Team members use Progress Reporter to communicate timesheet and activity status feedback directly to the project manager and project database via the LAN, remotely via e-mail, and over the Internet.

Primavera Portfolio Analyst. Portfolio Analyst provides unparalleled project summary and tracking information to executives, senior managers, and project analysts through a rich set of graphics, spreadsheets, and reports. The Project Portfolio wizard groups together any number of projects, based on project attributes or hierarchy, for comparison and analysis. Portfolio Analyst’s interactive interface allows quick drill-down to any see information at any level of detail for clear presentation and discussion.
